Hakan Calhanoglu called ‘snake’ after Milan derby celebration

AC Milan fans use word to describe Hakan Calhanoglu after derby celebration

AC Milan fans took to social media in droves on Sunday night to target former midfielder star Hakan Calhanoglu.

All square

Stefano Pioli’s men were of course back in action a short time ago.

In the last edition of one of the most historic derbies in world football, AC Milan and Internazionale faced off in San Siro, in a Serie A showdown.

The former launched into the proceedings with the advantage of the Italian elite standings, aware that a victory would guide them away from Napoli to the top of the division.

However, ultimately on Sunday, the Rossoneri were ultimately forced to settle for a share of the booty.

It was Inter who opened the scoring of the game from the start, when Hakan Calhanoglu dusted off to come home from the penalty spot, after it was ruled he had been shot by Franck. Kessie in the surface of the hosts:

Milan, however, quickly fought back, as Sandro Tonali’s inviting set-piece was aimed at his own net by Stefan de Vrij:

From there, the two sides exchanged chances, with Inter seizing a second shot on goal thanks to Lautaro Martinez, before Milan came close to a late winner when Alexis Saelemaekers shook the pole from a distance.

By the final whistle, however, no significant winner had been found.

Of course, as the action draws to a close in San Siro, it should come as no surprise to hear a particular player’s name steal the post-game headlines.

The man in question? The aforementioned Calhanoglu.

Turkish midfielder Calhanoglu became the last player to cross the Milan divide earlier this summer, when he opted to swap red for blue after allowing his contract with AC Milan to expire.

In turn, after finding the net on Sunday, attention quickly turned to whether or not the 27-year-old would choose to celebrate.

In the end, he did so, not only by throwing himself into a knee slide, but then cutting his ears to the support of the Rossoneri, in an obvious disrespect to his former employers.

And the Milan faithful have since made their feelings clear with their former midfielder star, joined by rival supporters and neutrals in using a very specific word to describe Calhanoglu late tonight:
